TP-03 :: GRIZZLY FETISH / SEWERHERMIT (Japan) - Split Discography CS

The year 2016 saw the inception of one of Asia's most unique black/death metal acts - GRIZZLY FETISH. Executed entirely by lone multi-instrumentalist, S.Y., in Japan's capital city of Tokyo, GRIZZLY FETISH plays an atypical hybrid of black/death metal, grindcore and industrial that is quite unlike anything easily found in today's "extreme scene". Along with spawning entities like REEK OF THE UNZEN GAS FUMES and THY SEPULCHRAL MOON, GRIZZLY FETISH emerged from the infamous Asian black metal circle known as "Circle of 4444 R3ich" - a scene who has been on the forefront of pushing boundaries of extremity and innovation for about a decade.

GRIZZLY FETISH delivers a harsh, threatening and unhinged aura while also simultaneously utilizing synths that evoke atmospheric, eerie and even melodic qualities. Other than baring some similarity to 90s Japanese death/grind legends, CATASEXUAL URGE MOTIVATION, the sound is difficult to pin down or easily compare to as it is unlike anything else being constructed beyond the Circle of 4444.

The other act on the split, SEWERHERMIT, is another solo project of S.Y. that was established in the year 2021. Self-described as "necrotic black doom", SEWERHERMIT concocts a similarly corrosive offering of black/death metal while also utilizes elements of ambient and doom. Demonic, pitch-shifted vocals and heavy distorted bass are heard overtop a haunting wall of layered soundscapes. Baring some resemblance to cult American act, BLACK MASS OF ABSU, concoction can be described as hypnotic and possessing.

GRIZZLY FETISH side includes the 2016 demo, the 2018 demo and 2 bonus tracks (including an unreleased ABSCESS cover). SEWERHERMIT side includes the 2021 demo, their tracks from the "Impending Insidious Indo-Asian Imperium" 4-way split tape and previously unreleased bonus tracks. This GRIZZLY FETISH demos collection was originally released in 2018 on tape by Treze Listras Rex, then reissued on 12" LP by GoatowaRex in 2019/2021. The SEWERHERMIT titles were both originally released by War Vellum.

This tape will be limited to an edition 50 copies - 30 on blood-red translucent tape shells, the rest on black, white and clear tape shells. Seeing as most of the above versions have sold out from the labels mentioned, this is absolutely not a title to sleep on. Copies are guaranteed to be depleted within a very short amount of time.
